From the outset, designing this kitchen was not straightforward.  It is a shared space with many groups from different age groups; Guides, Brownies, Slimming World, dance groups, elderly groups, children’s groups and birthday parties, to name just a few.
The design was further complicated by the use of the kitchen by Café Chad, two mornings a week. This community café provides affordable food and drinks in a safe space for people from the local community who may be lonely or isolated.
The kitchen, when used by the café is classed as a commercial kitchen which requires us to comply with food safety legislation that, in turn, demands specific requirements.
Despite these issues, Trevor worked patiently with us, using his experience and expertise to advise and guide us to a very practical solution, which evolved over about 12 months.  He arranged the electricians and kitchen fitters and plasterer, but allowed us to purchase the various kitchen appliances from our own sources and for us to work with our own floor fitter.
A time-line for the work was drawn up. We stripped the kitchen ourselves, saving some money, and then the project proceeded more or less as planned, with all the various trades’ people turning up on time. The electricians took a little longer than expected, but due to some slack in the time line, this was not a major problem.  The project was completed on time and the kitchen was installed competently and expertly.  All the work men were polite and helpful and did their very best to fit in with our wishes.
We are very pleased with the result. The new wider hatch has made a big difference. The worktops and units are very robust and attractive. It meets all of our requirements; from the boiling water tap to the dishwasher; it is accessible to all of the diverse groups of people that will use it, making it a real community asset. All the users of the kitchen have been very pleased and complimentary about the new kitchen.

Lyn Archer & David Underhill,

I am so pleased to be writing to you after our recent kitchen installation.

As you know, having spent a considerable amount of money only seven years ago for the kitchen in our newly built house, Debbie and I had very high expectations having decided that it wasn’t right for us.  I am delighted to say that even those expectations have been exceeded, starting with your professionalism in understanding exactly what it was we wanted to achieve.

Being in an associated trade I know very well the difficulties in bringing different trades together on a project.  These are even more critical in a domestic environment, it’s our home for goodness sake!  The entire operation went like clockwork – no worries for us about people being late or simply not turning up, and certainly no worries about everything fitting and working perfectly.

After completion, we were frankly astonished at the overall transformation of what was, after all, a very generously sized room.  Amazingly, it looks bigger but at the same time, cosier and more welcoming, and we now use it, as a family, in a way we just didn’t before.

Sincere thanks again, from Debbie and myself and please feel quite free to have would-be clients call us, we’ll be more than happy to share our experience.

Scott Turner,

Hazel and I decided it was time to freshen up our dark, dreary kitchen so we asked Trevor Hatt from Changing Kitchens for his ideas to make more of what we had. Trevor took the time to listen to what we wanted to achieve, measured up and went away.

A return visit was quickly arranged where Trevor gave us his design input and a price for the work including our choice of door colours, work tops and lighting. On acceptance of the proposal and price we enquired if the work could be undertaken whilst we were away enjoying the sun which Trevor was happy to do.

Arriving home from holiday and walking into the kitchen our expectations were more than satisfied, everyone who sees the kitchen cannot believe it is only the doors and worktops that have been replaced.

I can highly recommend Changing Kitchens as a professional company, able to give you everything you ask for, including the kitchen sink!

Mike Pugh,

Trevor i would like to thank you for an excellent service, you have recently provided us, regarding the supply and installation of a complete Kitchen and Appliances.

Because of the nature of the property, which has sloping walls, curved walls and obstacles to go around the planning stage was very important. Trevor covered every detail with precision and produced a design which transformed the existing dark and crowded kitchen into a light, airy and workable space.

The client was impressed with both the quality of service and product offered by Changing Kitchens, from the initial meeting at the showroom to the final installation. Furthermore, the cost of the bespoke kitchen was less than he had anticipated.

Trevor i would also like to personally thank you for working around the ever-changing schedule during the project and accommodating some slight design changes on the way.

The client has shown how pleased he was by ordering another kitchen for his property in London, which we shall be working on in September!

Phil and Catherine Charman,
